As the political and cultural capital of China, Beijing stands at the heart of Chinese history, buzzing with the energy of its high population density and centuries of importance.
Popular historic sites such as Summer Palace (Yiheyuan) and Tiananmen Square (Tiananmen Guangchang) are in your itinerary. Do some cultural sightseeing at The Palace Museum and Temple of Heaven (Tiantan Park). It doesn't end there: hike along Mutianyu Great Wall and don't miss a visit to Jingshan Park.

With a nickname like the "Pearl of the Orient," it's not surprising Shanghai offers some of the most rewarding attractions and activities in the Far East.
On the 29th (Sun), see the interesting displays at Shanghai Museum, then admire the natural beauty at Yu Garden (Yuyuan), then admire the landmark architecture of Oriental Pearl TV Tower, and finally make a trip to The Bund (Wai Tan).

Getting from Beijing to Shanghai by flight takes about 3 hours. Other options: take a train; or drive. Traveling from Beijing in April, expect a bit warmer with lows of 14°C in Shanghai. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 30th (Mon) to allow time for travel to Sanya.

The climate and coastline bring visitors from far and wide on vacations to Sanya, with its 40 km (25 mi) of shoreline almost entirely devoted to tourism.
Start off your visit on the 1st (Tue): contemplate the waterfront views at Yalong Bay, stroll the grounds of Xisha Martyrs Cemetery, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Dadonghai Beach. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: tour the pleasant surroundings at Tianya Haijiao, take a stroll through Sanya Redaiyulin Square, and then take in the spiritual surroundings of Nanshan Temple.

You can fly from Shanghai to Sanya in 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and ferry; or take a bus. In April, Sanya is a bit warmer than Shanghai - with highs of 35°C and lows of 26°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Thu) so you can travel to Lijiang.

The cultural capital of the Naxi people, one of the 55 minority ethnic groups in the country, Lijang traces its history back over 800 years, with the city developing from a trading post on the ancient Southern Silk Road.
Kick off your visit on the 3rd (Thu): contemplate the long history of Mufu Palace. On the 4th (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: explore the activities along Lugu Lake, ponder the design of Black Dragon Pond Park, then get to know the fascinating history of Yulong (Jade Dragon) Mountain, and finally contemplate the long history of Shuhe Ancient Town.
